What is HATS? HATS is a training company aimed initially at the hospitality industry. In this industry and I imagine many others, we all wear different HATS, especially in this age of multi-skilling. HATS also stands for Hospitality Assessment & Training Services HATS is presented by: Ruth Wood Ruth has been involved in the hospitality business since her college days in 1982 (Huddersfield Technical College) and then 1984 (Manchester Polytechnic), where she gained a TEC Diploma in Hotel Catering and Institutional Operations and a Higher TEC Diploma in Hotel Catering and Institutional Management respectively. She then worked for some of the big hotel companies in all types of roles: THF as Restaurant Supervisor, Bar Supervisor and Banqueting Supervisor; Holiday Inn as Duty Manager, Christmas Co-coordinator, Deputy Housekeeper and Accommodation Services Manager; Thistle Hotels as Deputy General Manager and more recently at the Express by Holiday Inn as General Manager. Ruth has also worked for Hospitality Plus as a Training Organiser, assessing hospitality based NVQ's and has worked in the business industry where she gained valuable experience in sales, marketing, information technology and office skills. Ruth has achieved qualifications to enable her to train other people in the industry, these include Craft Trainer Award and Group Training Techniques, Advanced Health and Safety and Advanced Food Hygiene qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, and is currently working towards her NVQ Level 4 in Learning and Development. Ruth is a Member of the HCIMA and an affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Ruth's Inspiration: She enjoys training and learning, and gets a big kick out of imparting knowledge and information to other people, so that they can then have the understanding and skill to be able to fulfill their job roles positively and confidently and to enjoy what they do. |
